Stewart House gives children the opportunity to develop a healthy lifestyle and to build self-esteem during their stay. This is delivered in part through our residential program. After school hours and during the weekends the children participate in a wide variety of activities.

The program focuses on developing self-esteem, social skills, team building, personal hygiene, development of healthy and active lifestyles, peer relationships and most importantly FUN!
On the weekends children are able to choose the activities they wish to participate in. These may include: cooking, a variety of arts and crafts, a beach walk, sand modelling and games.

Children are supervised at all times by highly trained Residential Children’s Supervisors.

Excursion Venues

Stewart House appreciates the generous support provided by the excursion venues the children visit, these may include:

– Harbour City Ferries
– Cook and Phillip Pool
– Warringah Aquatic Centre
– Australian National Museum
– Hyde Park Barracks
– NRL

Sporting Events

On occasions there is the opportunity to attend different sporting events, including basketball, netball, soccer and NRL games. Children who attend gain greater knowledge of the sport and it is an opportunity to experience something new and exciting.

Beach Activities

With the beach located directly across the road, children are able to enjoy sandcastle building competitions, rock hopping, sport and many other beach activities. These activities allow the children to develop coordination, peer relationships and learn about marine life and beach safety.

Talent Quest

All children are encouraged to participate in a Talent Quest during the second week of their stay, with an emphasis on fun and participation. This gives the children the opportunity to build self-esteem and confidence, public speaking and performance skills, to share individual talents and skills with their peers. For many it is their opportunity to ‘Shine’. Children also enjoy the Stewart House cinema and recreation rooms on site.
